By creating an account, purchasing a subscription or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

Please also read our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

The Privacy Policy is provided for transparency and is not treated as consent to every processing activity described in it.

If you download or purchase through Apple App Store or Google Play, your use of the relevant store and its payment services is also subject to that provider's applicable terms. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

You must be at least 16 years old to create an individual Termin account.

If you are between 16 and 18 years old, you confirm that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian where such permission is required by applicable law.

Termin is not deliberately directed at children under 16. Users under 16 may use Termin only under a separate arrangement with a school, parent, guardian or other responsible organisation approved by Termin. School and institutional access may be governed by a separate agreement.

You must not provide false information about your age or identity.

Termin provides digital tools for creating, organising, sharing and practising vocabulary. Depending on the features available and your plan, the Service may allow you to:

• create and organise personal dictionaries;
• add words, phrases, translations, definitions, synonyms, notes and example sentences;
• use flashcards, tests, exercises and scheduled review;
• receive vocabulary recommendations and personalised learning suggestions;
• import vocabulary manually, from files or through optical character recognition (OCR);
• use automatic translation and AI-assisted language features;
• keep dictionaries private, share them privately or publish them;
• access dictionaries published by Termin or other users;
• use learning activities through the Termin Telegram Bot;
• monitor learning activity, goals and progress; and
• use other language-learning features introduced by Termin.

Termin is a supplementary educational tool. We do not guarantee a particular examination result, language level or learning outcome.

You must provide accurate and current information when creating and maintaining an account.

• keep your login credentials secure;
• restrict access to your account and devices;
• notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access; and
• take responsibility for activity conducted through your account, except where it results from our failure to use reasonable care.

You may be able to register or sign in through Google, Apple, Telegram or another third-party provider. Your use of those services is also subject to the provider's terms and privacy notice.

You must not impersonate another person, create accounts using false details or unauthorised automated means, sell or transfer your account, or allow another person to use an individual paid subscription as their own.

Termin may offer a free plan with selected features. Free features may be subject to limits on dictionaries, words, imports, AI-assisted functions, tests, learning activities, public or shared content, or other usage limits shown in the Service.

We may reasonably change free features and limits. A change to a free-plan limit does not by itself create a charge. You must actively select and confirm a paid subscription before paid recurring billing begins.

Termin PRO is a recurring subscription that provides ongoing access to additional features, higher usage limits or other benefits described in the Service.

Available subscription durations, prices, currencies, taxes, introductory offers and trial periods may vary by platform, country, promotion and eligibility. The exact offer shown on the purchase screen before you confirm the transaction applies to that purchase.

Before purchase, we or the relevant app store will clearly show the subscription name, duration, recurring price, billing frequency, material benefits, any free-trial or introductory period, the price that applies after it, and the automatic-renewal terms.

Termin may offer subscriptions through different billing channels:

• Website: recurring web subscriptions are processed through Stripe or another payment provider clearly identified at checkout.
• iOS: subscriptions purchased in the Termin iOS app are recurring in-app purchases processed through Apple App Store.
• Android: subscriptions purchased in the Termin Android app are recurring in-app purchases processed through Google Play.

The payment provider processes the payment credentials needed to complete the transaction. Termin does not directly store complete payment-card numbers or card security codes.

Prices and offers may differ between the website and mobile stores because of local currencies, taxes, promotions or platform requirements. A purchase made through one billing provider remains managed by that provider unless expressly stated otherwise.

If you use the same Termin account across devices or platforms, Termin may recognise an active entitlement purchased through an authorised billing channel. This does not transfer billing management from the provider through which you subscribed.

Do not intentionally maintain overlapping subscriptions for the same Termin PRO access through multiple billing channels. If you start a second subscription without cancelling the first, you may be charged by both providers until one is cancelled.

Termin or an app store may offer a free trial, introductory price or promotional period to eligible users. Eligibility and availability may be determined by Termin, Apple, Google, Stripe or the applicable offer terms.

Before you start an offer, the purchase screen will disclose its duration, the recurring subscription selected, the full price that applies after the offer, the billing frequency, automatic-renewal terms and how to cancel.

Unless you cancel before the offer ends, a free trial or introductory period will automatically convert into the recurring paid subscription shown at purchase, and the relevant payment provider may charge the payment method associated with your account.

Trial or introductory eligibility may be limited to one offer per person, account, household, device, payment account or other eligibility criterion permitted by the relevant provider. Duplicate, manipulated or fraudulently obtained offers may be cancelled.

Paid subscriptions automatically renew for successive billing periods unless cancelled before the next renewal takes effect.

The recurring price and applicable taxes are charged by the provider through which you subscribed. Renewal timing, payment authorisation and billing notifications may also be governed by that provider's rules.

We will provide notices or reminders where required by applicable law or platform rules.

You can cancel future renewal at any time using the method applicable to your purchase:

• Website subscription: use Termin account settings, the Stripe subscription-management page made available to you, or contact billing@termin.world.
• Apple App Store subscription: manage or cancel it through your Apple account/App Store subscription settings.
• Google Play subscription: manage or cancel it through Google Play's subscription settings.

The Termin mobile apps will provide access to the relevant store subscription-management method where required by the applicable platform.

Cancellation prevents future renewals. Unless the applicable provider or law gives you a different result, PRO access normally remains available until the end of the paid billing period or trial.

Deleting the app, signing out, stopping use of Termin or deleting your Termin account does not by itself cancel a subscription billed by Apple or Google.

You may request deletion of your Termin account at any time. If you have an active Apple or Google subscription, Termin will warn you that store billing can continue after account deletion unless you separately cancel that subscription with the relevant store.

Account deletion is not conditional on cancelling a store subscription. If you choose immediate account deletion while a store subscription remains active, access to Termin account-based features may end even though the store subscription has not yet been cancelled.

Nothing in this section limits mandatory consumer rights.

For subscriptions purchased directly from Termin on the website, refund requests may be considered where required by law, where the Service was materially defective or misdescribed, where you were charged incorrectly or without authorisation, or where Termin otherwise agrees to a refund.

Subscriptions purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play are billed by the relevant store. Refund requests for those purchases are generally administered through Apple or Google under their procedures and applicable law. Termin may provide information reasonably needed to support a valid request but may not be able to issue the store refund directly.

Stopping use of the Service without cancelling a subscription does not automatically create a right to a refund.

Depending on where you live and how you purchase, you may have statutory cancellation or other consumer rights, including rights relating to digital services or content.

For a direct web purchase from Termin, we may ask you to expressly request immediate access during any statutory cancellation period and, where legally permitted, acknowledge the consequences of beginning supply immediately.

Purchases made through Apple App Store or Google Play may also be subject to the store's consumer processes. Nothing in these Terms removes any statutory cancellation, refund, repair, repeat-performance, price-reduction or other mandatory right.

We may change subscription prices. A change will not retrospectively alter a billing period already paid for.

For future renewals, we or the relevant billing provider will provide notice and obtain any consent required by applicable law or platform rules. If you do not agree to a price change where consent is required, you may cancel before it takes effect.

Termin may introduce limited-time discounts, referral rewards, free subscription periods, promotional codes, affiliate campaigns or similar offers.

Each promotion may have additional eligibility, duration and reward conditions presented with the offer. Promotions may be limited by country, account, payment method or plan, may exclude refunded, cancelled, fraudulent or self-referred purchases, and may be withdrawn where misuse is reasonably suspected.

Where a referrer or affiliate receives compensation or another benefit, Termin will provide or require an appropriate disclosure.

Subscriptions or access for schools, teachers, employers and other organisations may be arranged directly with Termin and may be governed by a separate services agreement, organisation-specific pricing, data processing agreement or additional student, administrator and safeguarding terms.

These consumer Terms do not override a separately signed organisation agreement.

"User Content" means dictionaries, words, translations, definitions, notes, phrases, sentences, images, files and other content that you submit, create, import or store through Termin.

You retain ownership of your User Content.

You grant Termin a worldwide, non-exclusive and royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, process, adapt, transmit and display User Content only as reasonably necessary to:

• operate, secure and maintain the Service;
• provide functions you request;
• synchronise and back up content;
• process imports and OCR requests;
• produce requested translations, examples, exercises and recommendations;
• provide AI-assisted features;
• display content according to your sharing settings;
• detect abuse or security problems; and
• comply with legal obligations.

This licence ends when the relevant User Content is deleted from our active systems, subject to backup cycles, content legitimately copied by other users and information we must retain by law.

You confirm that you have the rights and permissions necessary to submit User Content.

Termin may allow you to keep a dictionary private, privately share it with selected people or through a restricted link, or publish it for access by other users or the public.

You are responsible for selecting the appropriate sharing option. Other users may save or copy content made available to them. Copies already saved by another user may remain in that user's account after you remove the original.

Do not include confidential, sensitive or unnecessary personal information in public or shared dictionaries.

Termin uses the OpenAI API and may use other automated tools to provide features such as definitions, translations, synonyms, examples, dictionary notes, exercises, recommendations and processing of imported content.

Automated output may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, offensive or unsuitable for a particular context. You are responsible for reviewing important output before relying on it.

Automated content is provided for educational assistance and must not be relied upon as legal, medical, financial, immigration, safety or other professional advice.

You must not:

• use the Service unlawfully or fraudulently;
• infringe intellectual-property, privacy or other legal rights;
• upload malware or malicious code;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, accounts or data;
• interfere with the security or availability of the Service;
• scrape or systematically extract content except where expressly permitted by law;
• bypass usage, subscription, payment or security restrictions;
• reverse engineer the Service except where applicable law expressly permits it;
• use automated systems in a way that creates excessive load;
• use an individual plan to provide commercial access to other people;
• publish unlawful, threatening, hateful or abusive content;
• submit content that you do not have the right to process; or
• use Termin data or output to build or train a competing general-purpose model or service without our written permission.

We may use reasonable technical measures to prevent abuse.

The Service, including its software, interface, branding, design, original materials and documentation, is owned by or licensed to Termin.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. No other rights are granted.

Termin integrates with services operated by third parties, including Google, Apple, DigitalOcean, OpenAI, Stripe and Telegram.

Third-party platforms may have their own terms and privacy notices. Apple and Google independently operate their app stores, store accounts and in-app billing systems. Stripe independently provides web payment-processing services.

We are not responsible for services independently provided by those third parties. This does not exclude responsibility that applicable law places on Termin for providers processing information on our behalf.

We aim to provide a reliable Service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. Access may be interrupted because of maintenance, updates, security incidents, infrastructure or internet failures, third-party outages, legal requirements or events outside our reasonable control.

We may add, change or discontinue features. Where a change materially reduces a paid Service, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable and respect applicable consumer rights.

We may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary because you materially or repeatedly breach these Terms, your use creates a legal, security or operational risk, payment remains overdue, fraud or abuse is reasonably suspected, we are legally required to do so, or the Service is discontinued.

Where appropriate, we will provide notice and a reasonable opportunity to correct the issue. You may stop using Termin and request account deletion at any time.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, breach of rights that cannot legally be excluded, or any other liability that applicable law prohibits us from limiting.

If you are a consumer, Termin is responsible for loss or damage that is a reasonably foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. Termin is not responsible for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was formed or for business losses suffered by a consumer using the Service primarily for personal purposes.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Termin's total liability arising from the Service will not exceed the greater of GBP 100 or the subscription fees you paid to Termin during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. This limitation does not apply where it would conflict with mandatory law.

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the Service, our business, applicable laws or guidance, subscription arrangements, third-party services or security requirements.

We will provide reasonable notice of material changes. Where applicable law requires your express agreement, we will request it before the relevant change takes effect.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you retain mandatory consumer protections available under the laws of your country of residence. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, but consumers may also be entitled to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where they live.
